Swimming coaching camp
Club conducted scientific swimming camp for the kids between the age group of 8-15yrs. Marathon swimmer Mr.Charlson Ezhimala was the chief instructor. Training was given to 75 students. Grama Panchayath President Mr.Govindan inaugurated the project. In the valedictory function vice President of Ramanthali Grama Panchayath Mrs.A.Valsala distributed the certificates to the participants. Asst Governor Rtn. Prof M Rajeevan felicitated in both the functions. 20 rotarians with family daily participated in the camp.

Installation ceremony of K P Divakaran
Rtn. KP Divakaran and his team was installed on 5.7.2018. Rtn PDG MD Babu Joseph was the Chief Guest. PDG Rtn. MD V.G. Nayanar was the Guest of honour. Regional Coordinator Rtn. Dr. Vinod kumar, Regional Secretary Rtn. M.M. Anto, Asst.Governor Rtn. M. Rajeevan graced the occasion. About 400 Rotarians and invited guest attended.

'For the Sake of Award' to Dr VP Gangadharan
Rotary is an organisation which gives prime importance to each person's vocation. The highest recognition Rotary gives an individual for his vocation is the 'For the Sake of Honour' award. This year, Rotary club of Payyanur Mid Town honoured renowned cancer specialist -medical oncologist-, Dr.VP Gangadharan, with that award.
Dr.VP Gangadharan has several firsts to his credit.
1.Kerala's first medical oncologist.
2.Introduced chemotherapy in treatment of cancers in Kerala.
3. Formed Kerala's first stem cell transplant unit in Government-Regional Cancer Centre- and private.
4. Authored several pioneering researches in the field of cancer.
5. Established free palliative clinics for treatment of cancer
6. Life time mission of educating people about cancer and specially in dispelling myths associated with cancer.
We could not have chosen a more apt person to present this award. In a well attended public function, the award was presented by Commodore Kamlesh Kumar, Commanding Officer of Indian Naval Academy, in the presence of Assistant Governor CT Narayanan, President, Secretary,Vocational Chair Rtn.Mahendran, Charter President Pramod and Charter Secretary Dr.Anil.

Women's day celebrated
Womens day is celebrated every year on March 8th. This is a symbol of emancipation of women and thier empowerment to be treated as equals in society.Â
On that day, Rotary Club of Payyanur Mid Town celebrated Womens day with a series of activities designed for the mental and physical health of women.
Starting with talks by Ann Remavathi on empowering women and Ann Suprabha on mental strength. This was followed by a 1 hour session of Zumba, which combines dance with exercise. The idea was to increase both mental and physical fitness.
Pulse Polio Day Observed
Eradication of Polio is Rotary's greatest service ever to mankind. Pulse polio is the program to immunise the kids en mass, to boost herd immunity, which is conducted yearly. We participated in it, on March 11th at Ramanthali PHC. District Governor Sivasankaran inaugurated the function and Dr Santhosh Sreedhar and Dr Vinay Kumar were present on the occasion.

Books and materials to Edanad East LP school
At the request of the school authorities, Rotary Club of Payyanur Mid Town donated a book shelf and books for the classrooms. The project was jointly organised by us with our Rotaract Club. Rotaract President Sreerag and Secretary Vishnu are alumni of the same school, making this project even more special to their hearts.

Visiting Rotarians from Mexico hosted
Team of 5 Rotarians came from Rotray Club of Delicias and Chihuahua, Mexico to visit our District 3202. We hosted one of them,Rotarian David Lopez in the residence of our member ,Rotarian Narayanan Kutty. We took David and his Companion Dr.Jose Luis also to several locations in and around Payyanur, to show them our indigenous culture and practises. We even treated them to a traditional Kerala lunch served traditional style in a banana leaf.
They arrived on Feb 12th. On 13th we had a meeting with them at Rotray Bhavan, Payyanur, which was hosted by RC Payyanur where we exchanged flags and ideas.
This Kind of interaction with other country men promotes interaction, peace and goodwill.

Awareness talk on cancer
February 4th is celebrated all over the world as World Cancer Day. Dr.Padmanabhan gave an awareness class on cancer, specially about prevention and the benefit about hair donation for helping patients who lose their hair through chemotherapy.
On the occassion,Hair Bank, a charitable organisation who organised this program, wigs were also donated free of cost to patients. We also received wigs from film actor and TV personality Rachana Narayanan Kutty, who is herself a hair donor. These wgs will be given to poor patients wo suffer from cancer.

New Year Celebration
Rotary Club Of Payyanur Mid Town celebrated New year on Deember 30th in grand fashion. The theme for this year was white and blue,in which colours everybody was dressed. The Chief Gest of the occassion was our Charter President, Rtn.Pramod Nayanar. Rotarians, Anns and annets dsiplayed an array of dazzling programs which included a skit, dance ,songs and games.
Vocational service
This Tailoring unit exclusively for women, was
started in 2010. It has trained several women in finding a vocation in dress design and stitching.
This month, being the vocational service month, we donated equipment-2 large cutting tables and chairs- for the maintenance of the centre. through our unit many women are now finding self employment.

Republic day program- Patriotic song competetion
Rotary Club of Payyanur Mid Town , in association with our RCC, Sanjayan Smaraka Grandhalayam, organised a patritic group music competition for school students.This was held on January 26th, our 68th Republic day. 9 teams from different schools participated. Program was inaugurated by our Regional Secretary Rtn. Er. CR Nambiar. All the contestants were given participatory certificates and the winners were given cash prizes and certificates.
